Deborah Marsh has always enjoyed meeting new people, making new friends, and helping to meet their needs. So when she entered the insurance and financial services world, she found that her passion for people meshed well with her ability to explain financial concepts in a way that made sense to others. Twenty five years later, she is still explaining options to people who need to make important decisions about their financial future. Many clients have become close friends over the years… and she is making new friends daily.
Upon graduation from the Terry School of Business at the University of Georgia (UGA) in 1979, Deborah worked in the insurance business. Her career path led her to The Prudential, where she was Rookie of the Year. She developed an interest in helping people understand the importance of preparing for the worst of times, by including life insurance in their long-term financial strategy. Shortly thereafter, Deborah was recruited as an annuity specialist to help customers of SunTrust Bank learn how tax deferral through annuities may be a useful tool in investing.
A few years later, Deborah was asked to begin the financial services department of her hometown community bank; McIntosh Financial Services, the brokerage department of the bank, was established under her leadership. For 13 years, Deborah helped bank customers understand how to rollover their retirement plans into IRAs, how to invest for children's education in tax free 529 and Coverdell Education Savings accounts, how to invest systematically for the future, and of course, how to use life insurance, long-term care insurance, and annuities to help meet their needs. In 2009, she made the move to Century Bank and Trust in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she now lives. She and her assistant, Wanda Fitzgerald, have a great time working together to meet clients’ needs.
Education has been a huge thrust for Deborah, from attaining a bachelor's degree in business administration from UGA, completing with distinction the Executive Program for Financial Planning Certification through the Terry School of Business of UGA in 2008, to achieving the Accredited Financial Investment Management (AFIM) designation from Canon Financial Institute in 2012. Deborah holds FINRA Series 7, 63 and 65 securities registrations and is licensed for insurance products by the State of Georgia. She recognizes that keeping up with changes in the world of investments is vital to helping clients with their investment planning.
Community involvement has always been important to Deborah. Volunteering at her children’s school and in her church have been fulfilling to her over the years. She is an active Rotarian in the Rotary Club of Milledgeville and is currently serving as president.
Deborah and her husband, Bill, have been married since 1979. They have been blessed with two sons and four grandchildren. Living life to the fullest through her relationship with Jesus Christ is Deborah’s greatest desire. She acknowledges that she has been blessed beyond measure with family, friends, and a dream career of service to others. In her spare time, Deborah enjoys traveling to see family, playing piano, singing and teaching Bible study. Life is good, and she is grateful.
